KPS Leaf Plantation and Conservation area achieved
Finalisation of the Maria River land purchase on December 9 provides a large area for a koala food tree plantation and a significant conservation area. I thank all the KPS people who have had a part in this acquisition and acknowledge the significant input from Port Macquarie Hastings Council staff.
An on-site planning meeting took place to plan the preparation and planting of the koala food trees and the preservation of the conservation area resulting in the appointment of volunteer Graham Hargreaves to head up the sub-committee to coordinate the management of this 94Ha site.
With community support we can achieve an important result for the koalas in our area, something that we have been aiming for over the last few years.
Did I hear a koala say “about time”?
