Drinking Stations

Many people have asked what our intentions are with the money raised in the Go Fund Me account. Initially, the Koala Hospital’s aim was to raise money to purchase and distribute drinking stations (similar to the one on display at the hospital) to areas that had been burnt in the horrific bush fires in eastern Australia and specifically in New South Wales (NSW).

Deployment of the drinking stations began in December with 13 placed in bush land in northern and western NSW and Taree, to help in koala and wildlife survival.  Since the start of January, five have been delivered to the Blue Mountains region, eight out west for drought areas, last week two were placed in Crowdy Bay National Park and four will be installed in the Lake Innes area this week.

In addition, we are planning workshops for wildlife organisations in other states across Australia on how to build and manage the distribution of drinking stations.  The free workshops will be held in Port Macquarie and available to organisations prepared to take on the task, in their region, of project managing the manufacture, deployment, monitoring and maintenance of drinking stations.
