GumTips in French
My name is Denis and I live in Nice, South of France and I am, like many people across the globe, a true koala-lover.
Couple of weeks ago, I discovered your website by chance and I must confess that I was really moved by my reading of your newsletters.
All that you and your incredible team of volunteers have been doing over the years to rescue koalas and to treat and protect them at your hospital, all your love and day to day dedication to this marvelous iconic creature, is simply… “Admirable”.
As I read through your various issues of “Gum Tips”, however, I also realized (thanks to the various true stories which are beautifully told into them), how dramatic the situation of koalas is now becoming in Australia, the rapid decline of their populations and all the constant plights they have to endure : chlamydia, extensive suburban development, bush fires, car accidents, dogs injuries, etc..
I’ve thought about all this and how I could help and may be contribute further to your cause ? and I’ve said to myself why not translating your quarterly newsletter into French and have it posted on your website ? Koala-lovers are everywhere on the globe, but unfortunately very little first-hand information is available to French-speaking readers (they can be located in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada, or in many other countries).
So, I gave it a try and, as an example, you will find attached my translation of your latest posted edition (last quarter of 2015). I scrupulously respected the original text and as much as I could the look and feel (layout, font, color, etc.).
Note from the Koala Hospital: Denis has offered to translate future issues. What do you think? Check it out now.
