Work Experience!!

6

In mid March the Koala Hospital hosted two prison officers from the Wildlife Care Centre at the Outer Metropolitan Multi Purpose Correctional Centre, Sydney (John Moroney Correctional Centre) for a seven day “work experience” program.  Both of these officers were here to learn about wild koala rehabilitation as they have built some enclosures in the centre to house sick and injured koalas that will come into the wildlife centre.  No the koalas havn’t been naughty!!!!

This is a great facility where hand picked inmates are taught to work with sick and injured wildlife some of these people then go back out into society actually working in the animal field – how fantastic!!  The inmates rehabilitate wildlife and basically become rehabilitated themselves – what a win win all round.  Its looking like we will have an ongoing relationship with this Wildlife Care centre and we are really looking forward to helping out wherever we can.
