Adopt Cathie Jack
When the bowlers at Lake Cathie Bowling Club noticed a small dark brown ball of fluff in a tree (Cathie Kitty – female joey), they also noticed another joey in a tree on the opposite side of the picnic area behind the Club. Poor little Cathie Jack was in reasonable body condition, but had a nasty case of conjunctivitis (eye infection that often occurs when a koala is under duress) and needed to come into the Hospital for treatment. Even though they are the right age to be left by their mothers, some young male joeys find it difficult to cope and can struggle to survive on their own. It was decided to call him “Jack” as was the same case with “Kitty” – it is the name for a particular bowl in the game of lawn bowls. It was rather surprising to find two joeys both alone, not surviving very well, both situated within sight of each other and both being spotted by the bowlers. Our rescuers went to the Club and brought both joeys back to the Hospital together. It is more than likely, they are not even closely related to each other! After several months getting well and growing bigger and stronger, Cathie Jack was released into a safe area in Bonny Hills.
