Adopt Burraneer Henry
Our rescuers were called to Burraneer Avenue to rescue a juvenile koala. He was infested with ticks but otherwise in fairly good condition, weighing in at 2.4kg. He just needed to be relieved of his tick burden and to be given a safe place to rejuvenate and grow. We fed Henry hydrating formula and gave him daily tick checks and plenty of fresh leaf. He quickly gained weight and revealed his bright, plucky personality, endearing him to volunteers and visitors alike. Henry became the star attraction during January 2007, with his round fluffy ears and perky ways. Once Henry was free of ticks and growing well, he was moved to a yard with another male juvenile to ‘dehumanise’ and gain tree-climbing experience. Once he weighed 3.85kg, Henry was released to the reserve near where he had been found three months earlier.
